Most every artist will do a self-portrait at some point in his or her career. This is my self-portrait. It was created in a temporary moment, a few seconds of time, ephemeral. It is not a traditional portrait. There is no face; only a heart as a symbol of love that momentarily lives, melts, disappears-and ultimately forgotten when the snow is gone.

Every individual is unique in the world and has something to contribute no matter how small the thought or message. Sometimes a work seen on the street is all it takes to help someone else get through a difficult moment, an anxious night or a period in their life. Art on the street is for everyone; it can be funny, soothing, insightful, joyous or reflective, etc. It is meant to cause an immediate reaction.

The project is also a tribute to all the anonymous and unknown individuals ‘everyman’ whoever scrawled, scratched, graffitied or spray painted something without anyone ever knowing who he or she was. With so much unrest in the world, people stop believing in those most simple and basic truths and needs. I believe an artist’s knowledge is their trade; and to express that is to share universal concepts of peace, love, hope, equality, compassion, understanding and the will and determination to help others.

Art in unexpected places: anywhere, anytime, anyplace and everyone.
